About The Position

The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to patients in Essentia Health’s Cardiac Telemetry Unit, supporting their safety, comfort, and care needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, with possible guidance from an LPN. Duties vary by patient care unit and department. The position works within its scope to meet requirements of The Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies. This is a 36-hour-per-week position with 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., including every-other-weekend and holiday rotations. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $1,500. The position is based at the 32nd Avenue Building. It is a union position with no call obligation.

Requirements

If not already certified as a Nursing Assistant, register as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within three months of employment.
Obtain BLS certification within three months of hire.
Work 36 hours per week in 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., including every other weekend and holidays.

Responsibilities

Provide personal hygiene care and assist with patients’ nutritional needs.
Provide comfort care and other assistance to patients.
Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
Maintain a safe, clean patient environment that promotes healing.
Work within job scope to meet applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements.
