About The Position

The Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care on the Cardiac Telemetry Unit, serving patients in a manner that supports their safety and comfort. The role works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, with possible guidance from an LPN, and contributes to Essentia Health’s mission and goals. Duties vary by patient care unit and department. The position is 32 hours per week, with a mix of 8- and 12-hour day shifts and an every-other-weekend and holiday rotation. The position has no call obligation. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $1,500. This is an FTE 0.8 union position.

Requirements

• If not already certified as a Nursing Assistant, register as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within three months of employment.
• Obtain BLS certification within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant certification through the North Dakota Department of Health is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with patients’ nutritional needs.
• Provide comfort care and other assistance to patients.
• Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
• Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
• Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote healing.
• Work within the role’s scope to meet applicable Joint Commission and federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting requirements.
