About The Position

The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) works within the multidisciplinary team caring for Emergency Department patients, under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse. The role supports patient care and department flow in an emergency department providing 24-hour care to patients requiring urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness. The position is part-time, with mids hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., in Lexington, Kentucky.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of first-year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; applicants who are not already certified must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Previous laboratory or customer service experience.
• Data entry and computer experience and/or phlebotomy or point-of-care testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent communication and coordinate patient care and department flow.
• Use appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.
• Maintain the work area to support efficient operation and workflow.
• Collect, process, transport, and analyze specimens according to approved testing standards and laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
