About The Position
The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) works within the multidisciplinary team caring for emergency department patients under the direction and supervision of an ED Registered Nurse. The role supports patient care and department flow through effective communication and coordination, maintains the work area for efficient operations, and uses appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties. The position also involves collecting, processing, transporting, and analyzing specimens in accordance with approved testing standards and laboratory policies and procedures, and providing patient care consistent with hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of first-year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; applicants who are not already certified must obtain it within 30 days of their hire date.
Nice To Haves
- Previous laboratory or customer service experience.
- Data entry and computer experience and/or phlebotomy or point-of-care testing experience.
