About The Position
The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) works within the multidisciplinary team caring for emergency department patients under the direction and supervision of an ED Registered Nurse. The role supports communication, coordination of patient care, and department flow. The technician uses computer functions and systems appropriate to assigned duties, maintains the work area for efficient operation and workflow, collects, processes, transports, and analyzes specimens according to approved testing standards and laboratory policies and procedures, and provides patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of the first year of nursing school clinical classes and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; applicants who are not already certified must obtain it within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Previous laboratory or customer service experience.
- Data entry and computer experience and/or phlebotomy or point-of-care testing experience.
