About The Position
The Nurse Extern is a student enrolled in a professional nursing education program who seeks experiential learning opportunities to practice skills learned in the academic program under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This per-diem opportunity may involve working in several departments throughout Wellington Regional Medical Center. Overtime and coverage of various shifts are available to interested employees. The role is described as a night-shift opportunity.
Requirements
- High school graduate, with the ability to read and write and working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills to relate to staff and patients.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- Enrolled in a professional nursing education program for one year.
- Letter of recommendation from a faculty member at the school attended.
Responsibilities
- Practice skills learned in the nursing education program under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Work in different departments throughout the facility as opportunities arise.
- Cover various shifts or work overtime if interested.
