About The Position

The Nurse Extern is a student enrolled in a professional nursing education program who seeks experiential learning opportunities to practice skills learned in the academic program under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This per-diem opportunity may include working in several departments throughout the facility. The position is identified as a night-shift role, with opportunities to cover other shifts and work overtime if interested.

Requirements

• High school graduation, including the ability to read and write and a working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong communication skills to relate to staff and patients.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Enrollment in a professional nursing education program for one year.
• A letter of recommendation from a faculty member at the school attended.

Responsibilities

• Work in different departments throughout the facility as needed or assigned.
• Cover various shifts and work overtime if interested.
