About The Position

The Student Extern is an adjunct to the patient care team and performs at the level successfully completed and passed in the clinical section of a local college nursing program. Under the general supervision of an RN, the extern provides direct patient care in accordance with established protocols. The skills the extern may perform are expanded as appropriate. All newly hired externs initially function as nursing assistants, regardless of their nursing program clinical level. After clearance by the Supervisor, the student may move to their appropriate skill level.

Requirements

• Must be in the fourth year of a nursing program.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Must hold a current Basic Life Support Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
