Nurse Extern II - ER
About The Position
The Nurse Extern II (NE II) is a department-specific externship for nursing students in their graduating year who are seeking focused, hands-on experience in a particular unit. The position provides consistent exposure within one specialty area and supports advanced skill development before graduation. This is not a float role. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern II provides patient care support and participates in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation. The extern communicates significant observations to the RN while working within established scope and guidelines.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- Completion of the first round of clinical rotations in full.
- Must be within the final one to two academic terms of the nursing program (graduating year).
- AHA BLS certification is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Participate in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation.
- Communicate significant observations to the RN within established scope and guidelines.
