About The Position

The incumbent is an expert clinical practitioner who integrates experience, skills and knowledge from nursing theory and principles of adult learning and thrives to make a difference. Our mandate includes increasing public awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, education of health care professionals, and ensuring a safe and effective donation and transplant system in Saskatchewan. Working collaboratively with our stakeholders and fostering organizational and individual growth, we value respect for all, collaborative partnerships, compassionate caring, excellence and stewardship. The Deceased Donor Coordinator guides each step of the donation process including donor identification through referral indicators, donor suitability assessment, declaration, approach and consent with families, to the medical donor management optimizing organ and tissue yield for recipient transplantation. After each donation there is family follow-up and support and information transfer with donation and recipient programs.

Requirements

  • Recent (within last 2 years) clinical experience in organ/tissue donation
  • Experience in critical care
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Intermediate - Written Communication Skills
  • Intermediate - Computer skills
  • Intermediate - Decision making skills
  • Intermediate - Interpersonal skills
  • Basic - Communication skills to provide/obtain verbal and/or written opinions/advice
  • Intermediate - Problem solving skills
  • Intermediate - Verbal communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities, recognize, and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information
  • Demonstration of extreme attention to detail
  • Knowledge in statistical reporting, research and analysis
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to meet treatment needs with a client/family centered approach to care
  • 2 years clinical experience in a highly acute environment (ex. critical or ER)
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
