About The Position

The Night Custodian is responsible for providing a clean, safe, high-quality facility that supports an enhanced learning environment and reflects IDEA Public Schools’ commitment to excellence. The role includes daily cleaning, campus maintenance, safe operation and care of equipment, custodial inventory and supply management, and completion of assigned work orders. The custodian works with the Facilities Manager on facility needs and capital expenditure planning, and is expected to be reliable, punctual, flexible, and able to work longer hours when needed. The stated weekday availability is 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. IDEA Public Schools is a multi-state network of tuition-free, Pre-K–12 public charter schools. Requirements

Availability from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
Execute assigned work orders, with a goal of completing 90% of campus projects within 48 hours.
Complete daily cleaning responsibilities with attention to detail.
Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facilities needs for capital expenditure planning.
Operate safely, complete Safe Schools training by the deadline, and use personal protective equipment at all times.
Keep all chemicals on hand locked and immediately report unsafe campus situations.
Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently in line with campus cost-per-square-foot and energy-use allocations.
Minimize material consumption, maintain an accurate inventory log, and order supplies from the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility, including zero unexcused absences and consistent punctuality.
Follow the work schedule, prioritize work, and use good judgment to support efficiency.
Work as a team player and work longer hours as needed to meet the mission goal.
