About The Position
Custodians help provide a clean, safe, high-quality facility that supports an enhanced learning environment and IDEA’s commitment to excellence. The role includes completing daily cleaning and assigned work orders, maintaining custodial supplies and equipment, operating safely, and supporting campus facilities planning. The position requires reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and the ability to work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals. Compensation is an hourly rate ranging from $14.86 for 0 years of experience to $18.21, with eligibility for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.
Requirements
- Ability to understand cleaning, maintenance, and safety instructions.
- Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
Responsibilities
- Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
- Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
- Execute assigned work orders, with a goal of completing 90% of campus projects within 48 hours.
- Complete daily cleaning responsibilities, paying close attention to detail.
- Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facilities needs for capital expenditure planning.
- Operate safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, and use personal protective equipment at all times.
- Keep all chemicals on hand locked and immediately report unsafe campus conditions.
- Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently within campus cost-per-square-foot allocations and kWh usage targets.
- Minimize material consumption, maintain an accurate inventory log, and order supplies from the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
- Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
- Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility, including zero unexcused absences.
- Follow the work schedule, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment.
- Work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals.
