About The Position

Custodians provide a clean, safe, high-quality facility that supports an enhanced learning environment and exemplifies IDEA’s commitment to excellence. The role includes daily cleaning, minor maintenance, responding to work orders, managing custodial supplies and equipment, and following safety procedures. Custodians work with the Facilities Manager to identify facility needs and are expected to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and teamwork, including the ability to work longer hours as needed to meet the mission.

Requirements

Ability to understand cleaning, maintenance, and safety instructions.
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
Reliability, responsibility, punctuality, flexibility, and ability to work as a team member.
Ability to work longer hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
Execute assigned work orders, ensuring 90% of campus projects are completed within 48 hours.
Complete daily cleaning responsibilities with attention to detail.
Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facility needs for capital expenditure planning.
Work safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, and use personal protective equipment at all times.
Keep all chemicals on hand locked and immediately report unsafe campus situations.
Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently within campus cost-per-square-foot and energy-use allocations.
Minimize material consumption, maintain an accurate inventory log, and order supplies through the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and flexibility, with zero unexcused absences.
Follow the work schedule, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment to support efficient operations.
Work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals.
