Custodian - IDEA Alamo (Immediate Opening)
About The Position
Custodians provide a clean, safe, high-quality facility that supports an enhanced learning environment and IDEA’s commitment to excellence. The role includes daily cleaning, completing work orders, supporting facilities planning, operating and maintaining equipment, managing supplies, and following safety procedures. Custodians are expected to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, flexibility, sound judgment, and a team-oriented approach, including working longer hours when needed to support the mission. The position is based at IDEA Alamo and is an immediate opening. Compensation is hourly, ranging from $14.86 for 0 years of experience to $18.21, and the role is eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.
Requirements
- Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
Responsibilities
- Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
- Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
- Execute assigned work orders, with a goal of completing 90% of campus projects within 48 hours.
- Complete daily cleaning responsibilities with attention to detail.
- Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facilities needs for capital expenditures planning.
- Operate safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, and use personal protective equipment at all times.
- Keep all chemicals on hand locked and immediately report unsafe campus conditions.
- Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently, minimize material consumption, and keep an accurate inventory log.
- Order supplies from the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
- Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
- Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility; maintain zero unexcused absences and consistent punctuality.
- Follow the work schedule, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment.
- Work as a team player and work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals.
