About The Position

Custodians provide an enhanced learning environment by maintaining a clean, safe, high-quality school facility. The role includes completing daily cleaning duties and work orders, operating and maintaining cleaning and heavy equipment, managing custodial supplies and inventory, following safety procedures, and supporting facilities planning. Custodians are expected to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, flexibility, sound judgment, and a team-oriented approach, including the ability to work longer hours as needed to meet the mission.

Requirements

Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
Complete assigned work orders, with the goal of completing 90% of campus projects within 48 hours.
Complete daily cleaning responsibilities and pay attention to detail.
Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facility needs for capital expenditure planning.
Operate safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, and use personal protective equipment at all times.
Keep all chemicals on hand locked and immediately report unsafe campus conditions.
Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently in line with campus cost-per-square-foot allocation and kWh usage per square foot.
Minimize material consumption and maintain an accurate inventory log.
Order supplies from the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility, including zero unexcused absences and consistent punctuality.
Follow the work schedule, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment to work efficiently.
Work as a team player and work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals.

Hourly compensation of $15.81 to $19.37, based on experience.
