About The Position

Custodians provide an enhanced learning environment that reflects IDEA’s commitment to excellence by maintaining clean, safe, high-quality facilities. The role includes completing daily cleaning and assigned work orders, supporting facility upkeep and safety, managing custodial supplies and equipment, and working with the Facilities Manager on facilities needs. Custodians are expected to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, flexibility, sound judgment, and a team-oriented approach. The position is an immediate opening at IDEA Alamo.

Requirements

Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
Execute assigned work orders, with a goal of completing 90% of campus projects within 48 hours.
Complete daily cleaning responsibilities with attention to detail.
Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facilities needs for capital expenditures planning.
Work safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, use personal protective equipment at all times, keep chemicals locked, and promptly report unsafe campus conditions.
Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently within campus allocation guidelines, minimize material consumption, maintain an accurate inventory log, and order supplies from the Facilities Manager according to campus guidelines.
Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility, including zero unexcused absences and consistent punctuality.
Follow the work schedule, work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals, and prioritize work using good judgment.
