About The Position
Custodians provide an enhanced learning environment that exemplifies IDEA’s commitment to excellence through a clean, safe, high-quality facility. The role includes completing daily cleaning and assigned work orders, maintaining facilities and equipment, managing supplies, and following safety procedures. Custodians work with the Facilities Manager to identify facility needs and may need to work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals. The position is eligible for an hourly rate ranging from $14.86 for zero years of experience to $18.21, plus a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment. Requirements
- Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
Responsibilities
- Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
- Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
- Complete assigned work orders, ensuring 90% of campus projects are completed within 48 hours.
- Complete daily cleaning responsibilities with attention to detail.
- Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facilities needs for capital expenditures planning.
- Work safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, use personal protective equipment at all times, keep chemicals locked, and immediately report unsafe situations.
- Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently within campus cost-per-square-foot allocation and kWh usage goals.
- Minimize material consumption, maintain an accurate inventory log, and order supplies from the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
- Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
- Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility; maintain zero unexcused absences and consistent punctuality.
- Follow the work schedule, prioritize tasks, use good judgment, and work longer hours as needed to meet mission goals.
