About The Position

The School Monitor ensures student safety by supervising students at various times throughout the day, including before and after school, and during lunch and recess. The role supports a safe, orderly environment and helps maintain scheduled lunch periods. The School Monitor also assists students with general cafeteria needs, supports student behavior management, and refers behavioral concerns or inappropriate conduct to appropriate administrative personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Enjoys working with children.
• Manages students in a firm and fair manner.
• Strong communication skills with students and staff.
• Flexibility to change.
• Promptness.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and orderly environment for students.
• Monitor students during bus drop-off, arrival, and after school.
• Monitor halls during student arrival and lunch.
• Maintain the assigned lunch schedule for all grade levels without delay.
• Supervise and assist students through the serving line to keep assigned lunch periods on schedule.
• Supervise the lunchroom to maintain orderly conduct.
• Supervise students during recess and rotate through the lunchroom at the scheduled time.
• Assist with general food needs, including opening food containers, discarding food during meals, and maintaining cafeteria cleanliness.
• Assist with and support student behavior management.
• Refer and communicate behavioral concerns and inappropriate conduct to appropriate administrative personnel.
• Perform related duties as required.
