About The Position

Post Consumer Brands is seeking a National Account Manager – Private Label Pet Food to lead the development, management, and growth of key private label retail accounts across national and regional partners. This highly visible role is responsible for driving revenue, profitability, customer engagement, and strategic growth initiatives within the B2B pet food category. As a trusted advisor to customers and a key partner to internal stakeholders, you will leverage your sales expertise, category knowledge, and strategic mindset to create innovative solutions that deliver long-term value for both our customers and our business. The ideal candidate brings experience in private label sales, pet food or CPG account management, and a proven track record of building successful customer relationships, launching products, and executing growth strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in CPG sales, account management, private label sales, or pet food industry sales.
  • Demonstrated experience managing national or regional retail accounts.
  • Private label sales experience required.
  • Experience working with import/export products and complex supply chain environments.
  • Proven success building strategic customer relationships and driving profitable growth.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities with experience leveraging syndicated data sources such as IRI, Nielsen, Circana, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, CRM systems, and sales reporting tools.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary sales lead and business owner for key national and regional retail accounts.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with retail buyers, category managers, merchandising teams, and executive stakeholders.
  • Develop deep customer insights to identify growth opportunities and drive account expansion.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new private label business opportunities.
  • Manage broker relationships and collaborate with key manufacturing and supply partners to support account growth.
  • Develop and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) aligned with customer and company objectives.
  • Lead customer negotiations involving pricing, promotions, product launches, contracts, and annual business reviews.
  • Develop and present compelling, data-driven recommendations that influence decision-making.
  • Manage product portfolio strategies, including pricing, innovation, margin optimization, and promotional planning.
  • Represent Post Consumer Brands at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events, including PLMA and other category-focused conferences.
  • Manage all aspects of day-to-day account execution, including item setup, new product introductions, forecasting, reporting, and promotional activities.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, R&D, Marketing, Finance, Quality, and Demand Planning teams to deliver exceptional customer service and execution.
  • Ensure accuracy across customer systems, inventory management, online content, and operational processes.
  • Lead product innovation discussions and support new product development initiatives aligned with customer needs.
  • Own annual sales plans and deliver against established revenue, profit, and growth targets.
  • Analyze sales performance, promotional effectiveness, category trends, and ROI to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Utilize syndicated data, customer analytics, CRM tools, and internal reporting systems to develop fact-based selling strategies.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly forecasts and effectively manage trade spending budgets.
  • Conduct pre- and post-promotion analysis and recommend improvements to optimize performance.
