About The Position

This position is assigned to N921; CNIC; NAFEC Fitness. The incumbent works in an assistant or support capacity within Fitness Support, Sports Support, or Aquatics Support. The primary function is to ensure proper use of the facility, assist with recreation activity operations, and properly collect and dispose of revenues generated at the assigned facility. The role provides customer service and administrative support, assists with activity planning and instruction, monitors participants and facility use, and helps maintain facilities, equipment, and playing surfaces. The incumbent also supports safe operations, handles applicable fees, and reports issues requiring management attention.

Requirements

Meet Federal employment suitability requirements and successfully complete a background investigation, including fingerprint identification and background inquiry forms.
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check and resolve any discrepancies as a condition of employment.
Knowledge of MWR policies, rules, and regulations relevant to the work area.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic for computing charges, making change, and preparing reports.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures.
Knowledge of basic fitness, aquatics, and sports principles.
Knowledge of safe fitness-equipment use and operation, facility operations, and basic fitness-equipment maintenance and repair.
Skill using Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and other programs related to fitness, sports, and aquatics programming.
Ability to provide fitness, aquatics, and sports training or orientation.
Ability to independently carry out day-to-day recreation operations.
Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations or training.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Greet patrons, check identification to confirm authorized facility access, issue and receive gear or equipment, and register patrons for facility use, events, and classes.
Answer telephone inquiries about facility hours, events, programs, and related information.
Complete Daily Activity Reports; handle cash where fees apply, verify collections, and deposit cashier bags in the drop safe.
Assist in planning, scheduling, and publicizing activities and maintaining related supplies.
Oversee sales of retail items associated with activities.
Evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing MWR fitness activities based on participant feedback, resources, and program objectives.
Monitor patrons, volunteers, and contractors at assigned programs or events and report issues to management.
Assist in selecting fitness, sports, and aquatics activities based on program categories, available resources, and participants’ interests and needs.
Monitor participants in indoor and outdoor activities, including intramural sporting events.
Conduct instructional classes and basic fitness orientations; identify and correct unsafe fitness techniques.
Demonstrate activity procedures and instruct participants in the use of related equipment.
Establish or review event schedules, conduct tours, and prepare gyms, facilities, and playing fields before scheduled activities.
Ensure adherence to regulations and safety procedures.
Open and close facilities and sporting fields at posted times and monitor premises security and activity.
Circulate among patrons to assist with basic equipment or gear use and maintain good order and discipline.
Maintain athletic playing surfaces in safe, playable condition.
Clean and maintain equipment and facilities, maintain inventory, and perform general janitorial tasks to keep interior spaces clean and orderly.
Make minor repairs to facilities and equipment when appropriate and assist with outdoor maintenance.
Report maintenance problems, material deficiencies, and unsafe conditions or discrepancies that cannot be repaired in-house to the supervisor.
