About The Position

The Museum Associate works across Visitor Services and the Museum Store, helping create a welcoming, engaging, and positive experience for visitors and fellow staff. The role includes greeting and orienting visitors, supporting admissions and reservations, assisting with store and café transactions, explaining membership options, and helping with museum events and special experiences. Associates also support museum operations and follow policies that protect the collections, staff, and facility. The position is scheduled three days per week, including one weekend day, and requires availability for one to two after-hours programs or special events per month.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to use standard workplace technology, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel), shared calendars, email, cloud-based file storage, and collaboration tools such as Teams.
• Ability to follow documented procedures, maintain accurate digital records, and quickly learn and reliably use museum systems.
• Personable, with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work confidently, courteously, and efficiently in a busy environment.
• Comfort with a variety of technology systems and willingness to help visitors use digital technology, including the Museum mobile app.
• Enjoyment of interacting with customers and making recommendations.
• Desire to help people have great experiences.
• Interest in visual arts and curiosity about Norman Rockwell and illustration art.
• Availability to work three days per week, including one weekend day, and attend one to two after-hours programs or special events per month.

Responsibilities

• Greet individuals and bus groups, provide orientations, and recommend experiences available on campus.
• Sell Studio, Gallery, and Tour experiences and learn to use point-of-sale and reservation systems.
• Answer phones, direct calls, and assist guests with online bookings by phone.
• Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Help customers with purchases by learning about Museum Store merchandise.
• Serve as a café cashier while following health and safety practices; be willing to obtain TIPs Certification.
• Replenish inventory and stock, and arrange merchandise displays neatly and attractively.
• Explain membership benefits and options to visitors.
• Assist with museum events and special experiences.
• Support museum operations and the Museum's mission, and follow safety policies to protect collections, staff, and the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
