MTS Silicon Design Engineer

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc•San Jose, CA

About The Position

Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring an MTS Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing. The role oversees definition, design, verification, and documentation for custom mixed-signal design development, including architecture and logic design, system simulation, and defining module interfaces and formats for simulation. It leads multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. The engineer participates in product bring-up and debug and contributes to test plans and characterization reports. The role evaluates the process flow from high-level designs through synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use. Working with cross-functional teams, the engineer addresses complex design issues, drives projects or processes of significant technical importance, and independently selects methods and evaluation criteria. The role applies engineering principles, best practices, and technology to the design, development, and testing of AMD products. Travel is not required. Multiple openings are available.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related engineering role.
  • Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, plus five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
  • Three years of experience with mixed-signal circuit design emphasizing clock distribution networks and SI/PI performance for system design.
  • Three years of experience with mixed-signal design circuit blocks.
  • Three years of experience with low-power design techniques for high-speed custom digital circuits.
  • Three years of experience with functional verification of microprocessors.
  • Three years of experience with design flows and methodologies used for chip verification.
  • Three years of experience with ASIC design and tools, including synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, and static timing analysis.
  • Three years of experience with large-scale ASIC chip physical design.
  • Three years of experience with C, C++, or Python.
  • Three years of experience with logic and circuit design.
  • Three years of experience with CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture.
  • Three years of experience in Unix or Linux environments.
