About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Aventura, North Miami Beach, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, and surrounding areas of Florida. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where families can say goodbye in familiar surroundings. The role offers time for unhurried appointments, listening to families, answering questions, and providing dignified end-of-life care. The veterinarian practices independently while traveling to appointments, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Schedule options include 2 to 5 days per week and self-managed scheduling. Compensation depends on the selected schedule, with a guaranteed base salary and quarterly bonus opportunities. Full-time schedules include a five-day option with a $150,000 base salary and a four-day option starting at $110,000. Weekend days are selected by the veterinarian, with four weekend days per month.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 90 lbs with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care in clients’ homes.
Listen to families, explain care, answer questions, and support dignified goodbyes.
Practice independently while traveling to appointments.
Coordinate a self-managed schedule or select from available 2-to-5-day-per-week schedules.
