About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and families in Tampa, Lutz, Citrus Park, University, Clearwater, and the surrounding metropolitan area. The role focuses on providing gentle end-of-life care in pets’ homes, allowing time to listen to families, answer questions, and help them say goodbye with dignity and peace. Veterinarians practice independently on the road, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, training, and support from experienced colleagues. The schedule is self-managed, with options for two to five days per week and full-time or part-time arrangements. Weekend days are selected by the veterinarian rather than assigned in a fixed rotation. Compensation varies by schedule. Listed options include $135,000 for a five-day full-time schedule and $110,000 for a four-day full-time schedule, each with quarterly bonus opportunities. Two- and three-day full-time and self-managed part-time schedules receive prorated compensation. Guaranteed compensation ranges from $65,000 to $155,000 depending on schedule. The position includes a guaranteed base salary with no negative accrual and no non-compete agreement.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
