About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care in Aventura, North Miami Beach, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, and surrounding Florida areas. The role focuses on supporting pets and families through end-of-life care in the comfort of their homes, allowing time for thoughtful conversations and dignified goodbyes. Veterinarians practice independently in the field with team support, thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for guidance. Schedules are self-managed, with options for two to five days per week. Compensation depends on the schedule: five-day full-time positions offer a $150,000 base salary plus quarterly bonus opportunities; four-day full-time positions start at $110,000 plus quarterly bonus opportunities; and two- and three-day full-time or self-managed part-time schedules offer prorated compensation. Weekend work is arranged by choosing four weekend days per month. Candidates undergo license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before their start date.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in clients’ homes.
Support families through end-of-life decisions and help them provide their pets with dignified, peaceful goodbyes.
Listen to families and explain care with compassion and kindness.
Manage a mobile practice independently while seeking support from colleagues when needed.
