About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and families in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and surrounding Florida areas. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where veterinarians have time to listen, explain options, answer difficult questions, and help families say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role offers a few appointments per day and emphasizes unhurried, meaningful care rather than the pace of a traditional clinic. Veterinarians practice independently while working with a supportive team. The company provides thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and access to experienced colleagues. Scheduling options range from two to five days per week, including self-managed schedules. Weekend work is arranged by the veterinarian, who chooses four weekend days per month. Compensation varies by schedule: five-day full-time roles offer a $150,000 base salary plus quarterly bonus opportunities; four-day full-time roles start at $110,000 plus quarterly bonus opportunities; and two- or three-day schedules have prorated compensation. Self-managed schedules have compensation and bonus structures available for discussion. The position includes a guaranteed base salary with no negative accrual and no non-compete agreement.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Completion of license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
- Guide and support families through end-of-life decisions and goodbyes with compassion, kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Listen to families, explain care, and answer their questions.
- Practice independently while utilizing team support, mentorship, and experienced colleagues as needed.
