About The Position

Allstate Peterbilt Group serves the medium- and heavy-duty truck and trailer industry throughout the Midwest, supporting customers from vehicle purchase through warranty repairs and ongoing maintenance. The Mobile Diesel Technician diagnoses malfunctions and performs repairs in a shop-like environment and, on occasion, in roadside situations. The technician works with parts and service management, maintains a service vehicle and equipment, documents work, and interacts with customers in the field. The role includes training, maintaining industry knowledge and certifications, following safety and service procedures, and mentoring less-skilled technicians when assigned.

Requirements

Pass a drug test before beginning employment.
Attain industry certifications as required.
Understand and comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform repairs in a shop-like environment and, occasionally, roadside.
Seek out training and mentoring to advance along the established career path.
Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
Maintain accurate inventory and appropriate stock levels on the service vehicle.
Save and tag parts from jobs when required by warranty or customer request.
Inspect assigned vehicles for additional required or recommended service and safety-related work.
Immediately communicate with service management when additional work is needed, requested work is unnecessary, or repairs will differ from expectations or the anticipated schedule.
Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
Road-test vehicles when required.
Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events; attain required industry certifications; and keep current with manufacturer updates and technical bulletins.
Follow service policies and procedures to ensure safety, profitability, and accuracy.
Learn to use new information technology as it becomes available.
Mentor less-skilled technicians when assigned.
Report machinery and equipment defects or malfunctions to department management.
Keep the vehicle, service truck, and/or shop area clean and report changes to the vehicle’s appearance or condition to management immediately.
Maintain and account for dealership-owned tools and equipment, returning them to proper storage when finished.
Understand, stay current with, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT requirements.
Work safely and immediately report safety issues to management.
Interact respectfully with customers in the field.
Perform other duties as assigned.
