About The Position

SmartVet Veterinary Services is seeking a Mobile Associate Veterinarian to join their team in Normal, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to practice veterinary medicine outside of a traditional clinic setting, bringing comprehensive pet care directly to clients' homes. The position involves building relationships with clients and pets, enjoying variety in daily tasks, and having more freedom than a typical hospital role. The veterinarian will provide a range of services including wellness care, treatment of minor illnesses, chronic disease management, and end-of-life discussions, all within a mobile environment. While working independently, the veterinarian will have the support of the SmartVet team for scheduling, client communication, and coordination of care. The role is ideal for someone compassionate, adaptable, and comfortable connecting with clients in their homes, looking for personalized time with patients, variety, independence, a break from the traditional hospital, schedule flexibility, and the chance to help grow a mobile veterinary program.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree
Ability to obtain or maintain an Illinois veterinary license
Strong communication and client-service skills
Confidence practicing independently in a mobile environment
A compassionate, relationship-focused approach to veterinary medicine
A collaborative mindset and interest in being part of a growing service
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
Appropriate state licensure.
Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
Maintain patients’ medical records.
Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
