Merchandise Processor - Full Time
About The Position
The Merchandise Processor provides essential support for store operations and customer service, with a primary focus on processing donations. This includes sorting, hanging, pricing, tagging, stocking, rotating, and moving merchandise to the sales floor while meeting production and quality standards. The position also helps organize and recover the sales floor, identifies suitable items for the Ecommerce department, tracks daily production, and supports store operations and organizational programs. The role is based at the Hanover Store in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and reports to the Production Manager. It is a non-exempt, full-time position.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age due to position demands, required shift availability, and child labor compliance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple math.
- Ability to meet organizational qualitative and quantitative performance standards.
- Ability to work in an open warehouse environment with varying weather and temperature conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
- Ability to learn and use equipment and technology.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and work as part of a team.
- High adaptability and flexibility.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift.
- Ability to repeatedly bend forward or sideways 60 degrees to remove or place items in carts for 50% of the shift.
- Ability to stand with the neck bent forward 30 degrees for more than 75% of the shift.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds from ground level to waist level for 25% of the shift.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds every few minutes for more than 75% of the shift.
- Ability to push and pull carts requiring 25 pounds of force over 100 feet for 25% of the shift.
- Ability to repetitively perform the same hand, wrist, and arm motions every few seconds for more than 75% of the shift.
Responsibilities
- Process textile donations by sorting, hanging, pricing, tagging, and moving products to the sales floor to meet production and sales goals.
- Process donations of housewares, electronics, media, shoes, and miscellaneous items by sorting, pricing, tagging, and moving products to the sales floor.
- Organize, recover, and rotate the sales floor as needed.
- Follow Goodwill Keystone Area quality and production standards.
- Track daily production and report it to the supervisor.
- Stay informed about daily, weekly, and monthly production and sales goals.
- Select and identify appropriate items for the Ecommerce department.
- Assist with and adapt to the store’s overall daily operations.
- Provide timely and courteous customer service to customers, donors, and employees.
- Support, promote, and participate in organizational programs and special events.
- Complete other assignments designated by management and support additional tasks and projects as needed.
- Follow Goodwill Keystone Area manuals, handbooks, policies, and procedures.
- Promote workplace safety and perform duties safely in accordance with safety requirements.
- Communicate progress, problems, and concerns to the Production Manager.
