About The Position

NFIB is hiring an outside sales representative to grow membership by meeting face-to-face with small business owners in a local market. Approximately 95% of the work is in the field, with no fixed office location. The role is self-directed and centers on in-person prospecting, delivering NFIB’s structured sales presentation, enrolling members, and explaining the organization’s advocacy for small businesses. NFIB provides paid training, full benefits, uncapped commission and bonus potential, and mileage reimbursement.

Requirements

• Ability to build rapport quickly with small business owners through face-to-face interactions.
• Quick-witted adaptability and ability to overcome objections.
• Intermediate skills using digital sales tools.
• Ability to learn and follow a structured sales model.

• Experience owning a business, running a department, or managing a territory.
• Background in sales, military leadership, education, small business ownership, or recent college experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person cold calls to meet small business owners; appointment setting is not part of the role.
• Learn and deliver NFIB’s five-minute verbatim sales presentation.
• Use an assumptive, one-call close to enroll new members and process payments on the spot.
• Educate business owners about NFIB’s advocacy in Washington, D.C., state capitals, and the courts.
• Grow NFIB membership among independent business owners across industries and business sizes.
