About The Position
The Medication Assistant supports residents with medication needs and related care in Assisted Living and potentially Memory Care. The role includes maintaining and ordering medications, documenting medication assistance, helping residents with activities of daily living and basic care, monitoring changes in residents’ condition, transporting residents within the community, and responding safely and promptly to emergencies and requests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet all state educational requirements for the position.
Nice To Haves
- CPR certification is preferred.
- Experience working with an elderly population is preferred.
- Experience with dementia patients is helpful.
- A calm, helpful, and respectful countenance is appreciated.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and order medications and assist residents with medication needs.
- Transcribe and document information in the Medication Assistance Record.
- Assist residents in Assisted Living and potentially Memory Care with activities of daily living, vital signs, first aid, wound care, and communication with outside health care professionals as necessary.
- Observe changes in residents’ physical or mental state and report changes to leadership.
- Transport residents within the community to activities, other departments, or dining.
- Respond to emergency calls, resident and visitor requests, and environmental hazards in a timely, appropriate, and safe manner.
