Medication Assistant, Memory Care
About The Position
The Medication Assistant supports residents with medication needs and provides resident care in Assisted Living and potentially Memory Care. Responsibilities include maintaining and ordering medications, assisting residents with medication needs, and transcribing and documenting information in the Medication Assistance Record. The role also assists with activities of daily living, vital signs, first aid, wound care, and communication with outside health care professionals as needed. The Medication Assistant observes residents for changes in physical or mental condition and reports changes to leadership. The role transports residents within the community and responds promptly, appropriately, and safely to emergency calls, resident or visitor requests, and environmental hazards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet all state educational requirements for the position.
Nice To Haves
- CPR certification.
- Experience working with an elderly population.
- A calm, helpful, and respectful countenance.
- Experience with dementia patients.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and order medications and assist residents with medication needs.
- Transcribe and document information in the Medication Assistance Record.
- Assist residents in Assisted Living and potentially Memory Care with activities of daily living, vital signs, first aid, and wound care.
- Communicate with outside health care professionals as necessary.
- Observe changes in residents’ physical or mental state and report changes to leadership.
- Transport residents within the community to activities, other departments, or dining.
- Respond to emergency calls, resident and visitor requests, and environmental hazards in a timely, appropriate, and safe manner.
