About The Position

Spectrum Retirement Communities is seeking a Medication Assistant for its Memory Care community. This full-time position works the overnight shift. The Medication Assistant maintains and orders medications and assists residents with medication needs, while transcribing and documenting information in the Medication Assistance Record. The role also supports residents in Assisted Living and potentially Memory Care with activities of daily living, vital signs, first aid, wound care, and communication with outside health care professionals as needed. The assistant observes and reports changes in residents’ physical or mental states, transports residents within the community, and responds promptly and safely to emergency calls, resident or visitor requests, and environmental hazards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet all state educational requirements for the position.

Nice To Haves

• CPR certification.
• Experience working with an elderly population.
• A calm, helpful, and respectful countenance.
• Experience with dementia patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and order medications and assist residents with medication needs.
• Transcribe and document information in the Medication Assistance Record.
• Assist residents in Assisted Living and potentially Memory Care with activities of daily living, vital signs, first aid, and wound care.
• Communicate with outside health care professionals as necessary.
• Observe changes in residents’ physical or mental states and report changes to leadership.
• Transport residents within the community to activities, other departments, or dining.
• Respond to emergency calls, resident and visitor requests, and environmental hazards in a timely, appropriate, and safe manner.
