About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring Registered Medication Aides for its inpatient detox and residential treatment facility in Richmond, Virginia. The role provides medical support to clients so they can stabilize and engage in treatment. Medication Aides assist with nursing duties, coordinate care with medical and clinical teams, manage medical supplies, arrange appointments and aftercare, and support pharmacy and prescription authorization needs. The position is described as an overnight shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Valid state licensure to serve as a Medical Assistant.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Collaborative, multitasking, and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of substance use and its biopsychosocial consequences.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely medical care to stabilize clients and support their participation in treatment.
• Assist with nursing shift duties, including taking vital signs, conducting drug screens, managing medications, charting, and reporting.
• Collaborate with medical and clinical teams to coordinate care.
• Manage, order, and restock medical supplies as needed.
• Schedule medical appointments and arrange aftercare providers for post-discharge.
• Assist with pharmacy needs and prescription authorizations.
