About The Position

This position is with the Defense Health Agency at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, at Fort Hood, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Duties: Provide quality customer service to patients and staff members from a variety of different backgrounds. Enter, upload maintain, review, and/or update health care records (e.g., patient data, patient identifiers). Provide support and input for the coordination of administrative services (e.g., scheduling, templates, staffing, and training) performed within the health care facilities or offices. Assess patients' administrative needs and provide guidance or assistance in resolving patient concerns. Provide clear and concise directions for patient care.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing.
  • Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-employment and annual physical examinations are required.
  • Immunization screening is required.
  • Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • US Citizens
  • One year of specialized experience which includes receiving patients or visitors and entering, manipulating, or retrieving data from an electronic system.
  • Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
  • Applicants for these positions must be able to type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
  • Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency.
  • Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
  • Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
