About The Position

The Medical Receptionist supports outpatient rehabilitation clinic operations by providing administrative and clerical assistance. The role welcomes patients and visitors, handles inquiries, coordinates appointments and referrals, and supports insurance verification, authorizations, patient registration, payments, records, billing, and office administration. The position also helps maintain front-office coverage and completes clinic opening and closing duties as required. Pate Rehabilitation, an affiliate of Rehab Without Walls, provides evidence-based physical, occupational, speech/language, and neurocognitive therapies, as well as vocational rehabilitation, to advance and accelerate recovery for people with acquired brain injuries.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Professional attitude and appearance, strong customer-service skills, and sound judgment.
Detail-oriented and organized, with strong data-entry skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior administrative experience in a health care environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients and visitors in person or by telephone, and answer or refer inquiries.
Receive referrals and understand the type of insurance benefits available.
Verify insurance and obtain authorization from insurance companies.
Schedule patient appointments.
Register patients and check them in and out.
Collect copayments at appointments and follow procedures for copayment deposits.
Perform credit card transactions.
Maintain patient account balances.
Work with electronic medical records.
File, fax, and scan documents.
Manage and order office supplies.
Complete billing and payroll data entry.
Schedule aides’ breaks and lunches to ensure front-office coverage.
Complete clinic opening and closing duties as required.
