About The Position

Tri-County Community Action Agency is seeking a professional and dependable Medical Receptionist to join our Health Center team. This position is an essential part of the care team and is responsible for providing excellent patient service while supporting efficient front desk and clinical operations. The Medical Receptionist will greet and register patients, schedule appointments, manage telephone calls, assist with patient flow, verify insurance, collect payments, maintain accurate patient records, and provide general administrative support. The ideal candidate is professional, compassionate, organized, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Strong computer skills
  • CPR certification required based on position assignment.
  • Excellent customer service, telephone, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a multidisciplinary care team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior medical or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Bilingual is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional patient reception and registration services, including check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, rescheduling and cancellations, appointment reminders, accurate data entry, documentation, and maintenance of patient records within the EHR/practice management system.
  • Manage patient flow and provider schedules by monitoring wait times, documenting cancellations, no-shows, and patients who leave without being seen, and communicating with providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other care team members to support efficient patient care.
  • Answer and route telephone calls and voicemail, take and document messages, direct clinical concerns to appropriate care team members, and connect patients with Agency, Health Center, and community resources. Identify urgent or emergent needs and direct patients to appropriate clinical staff for triage.
  • Verify insurance and sliding scale eligibility, maintain accurate billing information, collect patient payments, complete required reports and administrative duties, and assist with patient programs, screenings, and other Health Center activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming patient environment while participating in required meetings, training, and performance improvement activities. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, Agency policies, infection control, safety, universal/standard precautions, and OSHA requirements.
  • Support the mission of Tri-County Community Action Agency by providing respectful, professional, and compassionate service to all patients, families, and coworkers.
