About The Position

The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. This role involves appointment scheduling, chart management, and providing patients with information to maximize their benefit from clinic services, all while projecting a positive image of the clinic. The assistant may be assigned to a specific medical specialty to aid in patient care related to that specialty.

Requirements

  • Phlebotomy experience is required.
  • Experience in a health care or practice setting with clinical duties is required.
  • Maintains CPR certification.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to use appropriate body mechanics techniques for patient transfers and assistance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college education is preferred.
  • MOA diploma is preferred.
  • CNA's are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting physicians with patient care, including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam rooms, assisting with transfers and dressing, collecting specimens, preparing patients for exams, collecting patient history, performing screenings, assisting with procedures, charting, and relaying instructions.
  • Performing drug testing, phlebotomy, and ensuring OSHA compliance as assigned.
  • Handling clerical responsibilities such as managing patient medical records, obtaining lab and x-ray reports, completing forms, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and managing documents.
  • Managing environmental responsibilities including setting up instruments and equipment, cleaning exam rooms and equipment, maintaining sterilizers, ordering and storing supplies, and restocking exam rooms.
  • Fulfilling organizational responsibilities such as respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Cross-training to provide coverage for other employees as needed.
  • Performing other assigned responsibilities and duties.
