About The Position

Rapid Medical is a tech-forward logistics partner for labs, clinics, and health systems. This independent contractor route runs from Bakersfield to Los Angeles, covering 126 miles Monday through Friday. The estimated duration is approximately 3.5 hours, with a 5:00 PM start in Bakersfield, California. Contractors located within 15 miles of the start point, end point, or along the route are well-suited for the position.

The all-inclusive rate is $140 per route and includes mileage, drive time, and expenses; there is no separate per-mile pay. Weekly bonus opportunities are available. A $150 sign-on bonus is paid after 30 active days with no call-offs, and a training bonus is paid after 30 days with no call-offs. Payments are made by biweekly direct deposit or same-day cash-out, which may involve fees.

The courier uses a driver app for navigation, scheduling, and real-time support; photographs pickups and deliveries and logs proof of delivery; handles specimens carefully while maintaining required temperatures; and promptly contacts dispatch about damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning items. Rapid Medical provides a branded shirt and bag, onboarding that includes an app walkthrough, route preview, and protocol training, and real-time dispatch support. Engagement is contingent on a satisfactory background check and motor vehicle record review. As an independent contractor, the courier is responsible for self-employment taxes; a 1099-NEC is issued for payments made.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a personal vehicle; a 2016 or newer vehicle is preferred.
• Have a valid driver's license and active insurance.
• Have a satisfactory driving record, subject to MVR review.
• Have a smartphone running iOS 13 or later or Android 11 or later, with reliable data.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Pass a satisfactory background check and MVR review.

Nice To Haves

• Delivery, rideshare, or courier experience is a plus but is not required.
• Personal vehicle from 2016 or newer is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete the scheduled Bakersfield-to-Los Angeles route Monday through Friday.
• Use the driver app for navigation, scheduling, and real-time support.
• Photograph pickups and deliveries and log proof of delivery through the app.
• Handle specimens carefully and maintain the required room, refrigerated, or frozen temperature.
• Contact dispatch promptly if an item appears damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning.
