About The Position

Rapid Medical is seeking an independent-contractor medical courier for a 39-mile route from San Gabriel to Los Angeles, Monday through Friday, beginning at 12:00 PM and lasting approximately 2.5 hours. Contractors located within 15 miles of the start point, end point, or along the route are well-suited for the position.

The courier uses a driver app for navigation, scheduling, and real-time support; photographs pickups and deliveries and records proof of delivery; handles specimens carefully while maintaining required room-temperature, refrigerated, or frozen conditions; and promptly contacts dispatch about damage, improper packaging, or other concerns. The route rate is all-inclusive, covering mileage, drive time, and expenses. Additional weekly, training, and sign-on bonuses may be available under the stated conditions. Payments are made by bi-weekly direct deposit or same-day cash-out, which may involve fees.

Rapid Medical provides a branded shirt and bag, onboarding that includes an app walkthrough, route preview, and protocol training, and real-time dispatch support. Engagement is contingent on a satisfactory background check and motor vehicle record review. Contractors are responsible for self-employment taxes, and a 1099-NEC is issued for payments made. Rapid Medical provides opportunities without regard to protected characteristics.

Requirements

• Personal vehicle; a 2016 or newer vehicle is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and active insurance.
• Satisfactory driving record (MVR) and background check.
• Smartphone running iOS 13 or later or Android 11 or later, with reliable data.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Reliability and punctuality, attention to detail, prompt communication, and comfort adjusting to changing circumstances.

Nice To Haves

• Delivery, rideshare, or courier experience is a plus but is not required.
• Contractors located within 15 miles of the route start, route end, or anywhere along the route are well-suited.

Responsibilities

• Use the driver app for navigation, scheduling, and route support.
• Photograph pickups and deliveries and log proof of delivery through the app.
• Handle specimens carefully and maintain the required temperature conditions (room temperature, refrigerated, or frozen).
• Contact dispatch promptly if items appear damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning.
