About The Position

Rapid Medical is seeking an independent-contractor Medical Courier to transport medical specimens on a 93-mile route from Ventura, California, to Los Angeles, California. The route operates Monday through Friday, starts at 6:30 PM, and takes approximately five hours. Contractors located within 15 miles of the route’s start point, end point, or along the route are well-suited for the position.

Couriers use Rapid Medical’s driver app for navigation, scheduling, and real-time support; photograph pickups and deliveries and log proof of delivery; handle specimens carefully and maintain required room-temperature, refrigerated, or frozen conditions; and contact dispatch promptly about damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning items. The role requires a personal vehicle, smartphone, valid license, active insurance, and a satisfactory driving record. The company provides a branded shirt and bag, onboarding and protocol training, and dispatch support. Contractors are responsible for self-employment taxes; a 1099-NEC is issued for payments.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a personal vehicle; a 2016 or newer vehicle is preferred.
• Have a valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance.
• Have a satisfactory driving record (MVR) and pass a background check and MVR review.
• Have a smartphone running iOS 13 or later or Android 11 or later, with reliable data.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Be reliable and punctual, detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable adapting as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Delivery, rideshare, or courier experience is a plus but is not required.
• A 2016 or newer personal vehicle is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete the scheduled medical courier route from Ventura to Los Angeles, Monday through Friday.
• Use the driver app for navigation, scheduling, and route support.
• Photograph pickups and deliveries and record proof of delivery in the app.
• Handle specimens carefully and maintain the required temperature conditions.
• Notify dispatch promptly if an item appears damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning.
