About The Position

Rapid Medical is seeking an independent-contractor Medical Courier to transport medical specimens on a Los Angeles route covering approximately 69 miles. The route runs Monday through Friday, starts at 7:45 PM, and is estimated to take approximately four hours, ending around 11:50 PM. Contractors located within 15 miles of the start point, end point, or anywhere along the route are well-suited to the position.

Couriers use the company driver app for navigation, scheduling, and real-time support. They photograph pickups and deliveries, log proof of delivery, handle specimens carefully, and maintain the required temperature—room, refrigerated, or frozen. They must contact dispatch promptly about damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning items.

This is a 1099 independent-contractor engagement. The all-inclusive route rate accounts for mileage, drive time, and expenses; there is no separate per-mile payment. Payments are available by biweekly direct deposit or same-day cash-out, for which fees may apply. A satisfactory background check and motor vehicle record review are required. Contractors are responsible for self-employment taxes, and Rapid Medical issues a 1099-NEC for payments made.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a personal vehicle; a 2016 or newer vehicle is preferred.
• Have a valid driver's license and active insurance.
• Have a satisfactory driving record (MVR) and pass the required background check and MVR review.
• Have a smartphone running iOS 13 or later or Android 11 or later, with reliable data service.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Be reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable adjusting to changing circumstances.
• As an independent contractor, be responsible for self-employment taxes.

Nice To Haves

• Delivery, rideshare, or courier experience is a plus but is not required.
• A 2016 or newer personal vehicle is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete the assigned medical courier route and stops.
