Medical Assistant - Totem Lake Primary Care
About The Position
The Medical Assistant supports providers in delivering quality patient care and promoting a culture of safety in a primary care setting. The role greets and rooms patients, obtains medical histories and vital signs, prepares patients for examinations, and assists providers with examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing. The Medical Assistant maintains an appropriate sterile environment and follows Washington State transmission-precaution standards, administers injections as ordered, and uses the electronic medical record (EMR) efficiently to enter and retrieve information.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent, or applicable coursework to be applied toward obtaining required Washington State Medical Assistant Certification.
- Current Washington State Medical Assistant Certification.
- Current national certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or AMCA.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by the date of hire.
- Proficiency with medical terminology.
- Ability to use an EMR efficiently and follow appropriate data-entry and retrieval processes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Nice To Haves
- National certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is strongly preferred.
- One year of Medical Assistant experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients according to standards.
- Take patients’ histories and vital signs.
- Prepare patients for examinations.
- Assist providers with examinations, surgical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
- Maintain an appropriate sterile environment for clinical procedures or situations and follow Washington State transmission-precaution standards.
- Administer intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections according to provider orders.
- Use the EMR efficiently and follow appropriate processes for entering and retrieving data.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
