About The Position

The Medical Assistant prepares patients for examinations and assists clinical providers by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical and social history, and chief complaints. The role performs clinical tasks within the scope of the employee’s certification and under physician supervision. Responsibilities also include specimen collection, phlebotomy, vaccine administration, diagnostic testing, patient call management, equipment checks, supply maintenance, and front desk support.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant.
BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

1–3 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for exams by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and prepare exam rooms as needed based on the chief complaint.
Perform phlebotomy and obtain specimens for processing.
Administer vaccines and complete required documentation.
Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKG and pulmonary function tests, as directed and under physician supervision.
Screen and direct patient calls according to established protocols.
Contact patients regarding prescriptions and test results as directed and under physician supervision.
Perform and document daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
Maintain par levels of clinical supplies for the facility.
Perform front desk duties as directed, which may include patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.
