Tyonek is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support aircraft integration efforts for current and future warfighters. The role designs and develops the integration of avionics and weapons systems into rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft for U.S. Department of Defense, foreign military, and/or commercial customers. Depending on experience, the engineer may serve as a technical lead during project design and testing. The position level will be matched to the candidate’s experience, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The engineer develops CAD technical data packages, including 3D models and 2D drawings, and creates solutions to complex mechanical issues while considering weight, thermal effects, vibration, corrosion, and airworthiness. The work includes classical and finite element analysis, airworthiness certification documentation, design reviews, installation instructions, and technical support through manufacturing, prototype, validation, verification, and qualification testing. The engineer also coordinates with manufacturing engineering and communicates with Airworthiness Authorities. The position normally works in an office setting with controlled temperature, but may involve walking, standing, climbing, working at heights with fall protection, and other physical tasks. A government security clearance must be obtainable and maintainable. Tyonek maintains a drug-free workplace and conducts post-offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing. The employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer/VEVRAA Federal Contractor and may extend hiring preferences to its shareholders under ANCSA.
