About The Position
Earth Fare Team Members help customers have a fulfilling store visit by answering questions and meeting their shopping needs. They guide customers toward healthy, trustworthy food and other products that meet Earth Fare’s standards. The company’s mission is helping people live healthy lives. The Meat Cutter provides customer service and knowledgeable assistance with meat selections, maintains the meat and seafood displays and inventory, and cuts meat safely using hand tools and powered equipment. The role also involves following food-safety practices, maintaining a clean and organized department, and collaborating and cross-training with team members in other grocery departments as needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment and follow safety procedures.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Able to reach frequently in all directions.
- Able to stand for long periods, often in one spot.
- Able to frequently push and pull heavy carts or pallet jacks.

- Basic knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers, help them select meat cuts, offer recommendations, and answer questions.
- Follow safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure meat is handled and stored properly.
- Set and maintain the meat and seafood cases and displays; use FIFO principles to sell older stock first and reduce waste.
- Use hand tools and powered equipment safely and skillfully to cut meat.
- Understand different cuts and types of meat and provide knowledgeable advice to customers.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of department fixtures, storage areas, workstations, freezers, and coolers.
- Collaborate with team members to support smooth store operations.
- Participate in cross-training in other grocery departments, such as produce, bakery, and customer service; assist in other departments and adapt to varying roles as needed.
