About The Position

Earth Fare Team Leaders are managers who model the company’s mission, convictions, and purpose while developing and managing successful teams. The Meat & Seafood Team Leader oversees department procedures and performance, including gross profit, shrink, sales, labor, and overhead, and ensures a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This role supervises and participates in in-house meat cutting, maintains the presentation and quality of meat and seafood, and serves as a key holder supporting overall store operations.

Requirements

• Proficient knowledge of meat and seafood varieties and cuts.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper storage and display of organic products.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper use of knives, saws, and other equipment used in meat and seafood preparation.
• Proven success managing shrink, sales, gross profit, and total overhead for a department in a similar environment.
• At least 2–3 years of experience as a professional meat cutter or butcher.

Nice To Haves

• At least 2–3 years of grocery retail experience within the Meat Department.
• Perishable experience.
• OSHA ServSafe Certification.

Responsibilities

• Communicate Earth Fare’s vision, standard operating procedures, merchandising guidelines, and financial goals to team members, emphasizing customer service, safety, and sanitation.
• Interview, select, train, and support team members.
• Act as a key holder to support overall store operations.
• Supervise and participate in in-house meat cutting.
• Maintain attractive displays and proper presentation of quality meat and seafood items.
• Ensure high standards of quality control.
• Order and receive deliveries, schedule work, review sales and movement reports, shrink reports, and emails, and respond accordingly.
• Conduct monthly department inventory and continually identify ways to reduce expenses.
• Implement Earth Fare merchandising guidelines to develop and maintain an attractive sales floor.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization across department fixtures, storage, workstations, freezers, and coolers.
• Meet and exceed department financial goals, including gross profit, shrink, sales, labor, and overhead.
