About The Position

Earth Fare Team Members help ensure customers have a fulfilling store visit by answering questions and meeting shopping needs. Earth Fare’s mission is to help people live healthy lives, and Team Members guide customers toward healthy food and trusted wellbeing and household products. The Meat Cutter serves customers in the meat department, handles and cuts meat safely, maintains product displays and inventory, and keeps the department clean and organized. The role also includes cross-training and assisting in other grocery departments as needed.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability in knife handling, use of other cutting equipment, and safety procedures.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Ability to reach frequently in all directions.
Ability to stand for long periods, often in one spot.
Ability to frequently push and pull heavy carts or pallet jacks.

Nice To Haves

Customer service experience.
Basic knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, help them select meat cuts, offer recommendations, and answer questions.
Follow safety protocols to prevent contamination and handle and store meat properly.
Set and maintain meat and seafood cases and displays; use FIFO principles to reduce waste.
Use hand tools and powered equipment, including grinders, cubing machines, and power saws, to cut meat safely and expertly.
Provide knowledgeable advice about different meat cuts and types.
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the department, including fixtures, storage, workstations, freezers, and coolers.
Collaborate with other team members to support smooth store operations.
Participate in cross-training across departments such as produce, bakery, and customer service; assist in other departments as needed and adapt to varying responsibilities.
