About The Position
The Meat Clerk/Janitorial position involves serving customers and supporting daily meat department operations. Responsibilities include preparing, wrapping, labeling, pricing, stocking, and rotating meat products; receiving warehouse deliveries; maintaining product temperatures; and providing customers with cooking instructions. The role also includes keeping the work area, equipment, meat cases, coolers, freezers, and cutting room clean and sanitary, and properly storing service-case products at closing. Training is provided at the store level. This is not an official job description; duties may vary, and store management may assign other duties.
Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to bend and stoop.
- Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to work on their feet for the entire 4–8-hour shift.
Nice To Haves
- For store or facility teammates: a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
- For Store Support Center teammates: a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Wrap, label, and price products.
- Prepare products for the service meat case.
- Use suggestive selling and offer product samples.
- Receive products from the warehouse.
- Stock, straighten, and rotate products in meat cases and coolers.
- Read and understand shelf tags.
- Follow company safety guidelines when using equipment.
- Provide customers with proper cooking instructions.
- Check and maintain proper temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and meat cases according to company safety and sanitation guidelines.
- At closing, pull products from the service meat case for proper storage.
- Perform other duties as assigned by store management.
