About The Position

The Meat Clerk provides friendly and courteous customer service while preparing, wrapping, labeling, pricing, and stocking meat products. The role includes maintaining product displays and storage areas, helping customers with cooking instructions, and following company safety and sanitation guidelines. Training is provided at the store level. This is not an official job description; responsibilities may vary, and store management may assign other duties.

Requirements

Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For Store/Facility Teammates: a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center Teammates: a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
Internal candidates invited for an interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Wrap, label, and price product.
Prepare product for the service meat case.
Suggestively sell products and provide product samples.
Receive product from the warehouse.
Stock, straighten, and rotate product in meat cases and coolers.
Read and understand shelf tags.
Follow company safety guidelines when using equipment.
Provide customers with proper cooking instructions.
Check and maintain proper temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and meat cases according to company safety and sanitation guidelines.
At closing, pull product from the service meat case for proper storage.
Perform other duties as assigned by store management.
